“You’re only given a little spark of madness. You mustn’t lose it.”
Robin Williams
Michael Weinberger II was raised in Katy, Texas, by a father from New Jersey and a mother from Monterrey, Mexico, making him the first in her family to be born in the United States. A maker since childhood, he turned drawings, papier-mâché dioramas and living-room shows into a lifelong need to tell stories.
As a teenager he taught himself the methods of the Group Theatre's founders. He went on to train at the studios they founded, the Stella Adler Studio and the Lee Strasberg Institute, through NYU Tisch, earning a BFA in Drama with a minor in Film. Since 2020 he has worked across stage and screen, from Shakespeare to leading roles in independent film, bringing real enthusiasm to the demands of every medium.
Michael thinks of every life as beginning as a blank canvas, filled with the paints and brush strokes that circumstance and choice give each of us. He sees his work as holding that picture up to people so they may catch their own reflection in it. He aims to live an idea rather than perform it, building each character from small, specific behavior and adjusting the aperture of intensity, stakes and size to fit each world he inhabits. What he hopes to give every audience is an experience that stays with them.
Michael also writes and directs. His short Happy Birthday Ethan won Best Short Screenplay at Mythea, and he is directing the pilot of the historical drama Tale of Old and developing his original comedy Red River Waterpark.
